In his victory speech following his election win for his second term as governor of Illinois, Gov. JB Pritzker praised Shliach Rabbi Yosef Schanowitz for his response following the July 4th mass shooting in Highland Park.

Pritzker was running against Republican Darren Bailey, and easily beat him by nearly ten percentage points, with the race called just nine minutes after polls closed.

Toward the end of his victory speech, he pointed to a number of local Illinois locals who served as an inspiration to the entire world, specifically over the past few years. Among them was a shliach.

“…Rabbi Yosef Schanowitz [of Chabad of Highland Park] who on July 4th this year rushed to the Highland Park Hospital to go door to door for people of all faiths to provide counseling and healing,” the Governor called out.

The July 4th attack, which took place just two blocks away from Rabbi Schanowitz’s Chabad House, left 7 people dead and injured 48. Immediately afterward, he sprang into action, offering both physical and spiritual aid to all those who were affected.
