A soldier in Israel’s Defense Force stationed on the border with Gaza is asking the public to fill his shoes this Friday as he will be unable to daven.

The IDF’s planned ground invasion of Gaza is purportedly set to begin Friday night at 8:00 PM meaning none of the soldiers participating in the attack will have the opportunity to sing lecha dodi and daven maariv.

The soldier who identified himself as ‘Arki‘ has asked Jews worldwide to sing and dance this Friday night while we recite Kabolas Shabbos in maariv davening in merit of all the IDF soldiers who will be unable to.

“Normally at Kabalat Shabbat I would be singing and dancing bringing in Shabbos with so much simcha,” Arki said. “But because of the missions we have to do I will probably be unable to daven. So I need you to do it for me.”

“So I request from you that if you don’t usually go to shul on Friday night, this is the week. If you don’t sing, this is the week. If you don’t usually dance, this is the week.”

“We need to show the world that they can’t break our simcha and they cannot break our Shabbos.”
