Hundreds Put on Tefillin at Fifth Avenue Parade
With close to 60,000 participants at the annual Israel Day Parade on Fifth Avenue, bochurim and shluchim were on site to ensure that they had the opportunity to put on tefillin and be engaged in other mitzvos.
The annual Israel Day Parade on Fifth Avenue once again drew a large crowd, with close to 60,000 participants, alongside tens of thousands of additional spectators lining the route.
The parade was attended by numerous public officials, including U.S. senators, members of Congress, New York State legislators, and city officials, together with representatives of the Israeli government and Jewish communal leaders.
While Lubavitch is careful not to formally align itself with Zionist holidays or events, the occasion was nevertheless utilized as an opportunity for mivtzoim.
As in previous years, many Lubavitcher bochurim and shluchim were on site to ensure that thousands of Jews had the opportunity to put on tefillin and be engaged in other mitzvos.

Read again, it was not the Rebbe who said it , it was Rabbi Chodokav. That is a signifact diffrence. While it is known that much of what he said came from the Rebbe – 1. It is still certainly from him and saying otherwise is an aversion of the truth. 2. Yes much of waht he said came from the Rebbe but certainly not all.
The Rebbe in fact gave extremly strong encouragment to bochurim who wrote that they had given out flyers at the Israel Day parade – even offering to pay 90 percent of expenses!

It is. 19 Sivan 5734 corrosponds to JUne 9, 1974. There was a parade on that day

The Maane is on their report about mivtza mezuza in general. A big focus of that is indeed the flyesr that they gave out at the parade. I wonder waht the Rebbe indeed had in mind about paying for – was it those flyers or in general?
