Dozens of families, members of Anash, campers, and the shluchim of Anshei Lubavitch of Fair Lawn came out this past Thursday for a siyum Sefer Torah celebration welcoming a brand-new Sefer Torah into the community.

The Sefer Torah was dedicated by Reva Newhouse in memory of Pinchas Stanislavsky and in honor of her children, the Fullerton family.

Community members took turns having the final letters written in the Torah. Once the writing was complete, the Sefer Torah was raised for hagbah and gelilah, accompanied by singing from the crowd gathered around.

The celebration then moved outside, as the community accompanied the new Sefer Torah through the streets in a joyous procession with music and singing to its new home. The procession was led by shluchim Rabbi Levi Neubort, Rabbi Avrohom Bergstein, Rabbi Eliezer Steinhauser, and Rabbi Yudi Eisenbach.

Campers from the Anshei Lubavitch Day Camp took an active part in the parade, marching alongside the Sefer Torah while waving flags and banners they had decorated for the occasion.

When the procession reached the shul, the new Sefer Torah was welcomed with hakafos, as the community danced together late into the evening.

The celebration carried into Shabbos, when the Sefer Torah was read from for the first time. The Shabbos festivities concluded with a special kiddush, as the community gathered once more to mark the occasion.
