For the first time, a unique day of halachic learning was held for the Rebbe’s shluchim in the Netherlands, bringing together shluchim from across the country for a full day dedicated to practical halacha and the questions that arise in their daily work.

One of the unique challenges shluchim face in their day-to-day shlichus is dealing with practical halachic questions that come up in their communities, often involving complex situations that require careful study and guidance. The program was arranged to provide shluchim with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and discuss topics directly relevant to their responsibilities.

Among the subjects addressed were the halachic guidelines of asking a non-Jew to perform certain activities on Shabbos, the Alter Rebbe’s approach to eruv chatzeiros, and practical questions relating to yichud when visiting elderly community members.

The sessions were led by Rabbi Chaim Hillel Raskin, mara d’asra of the Chabad community in Central Petach Tikva, dayan on the Beis Din of Rabonei Chabad in Eretz Yisroel, head of the kollel for shluchim under Merkos L’inyanei Chinuch, and author of Ask the Rov on Anash.org. Rabbi Raskin traveled from Eretz Yisroel especially for the occasion and guided the participants through an in-depth study of the sources, from the original sugyos through the practical halachic conclusions.

Rabbi Menachem Haddad, Chief Rabbi of Brussels, also participated in the sessions, sharing from his extensive experience in the field of kashrus and discussing practical matters related to communal rabbinic work.

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, director of the Kinus Hashluchim, addressed the shluchim and praised the initiative of gathering together for focused halachic study. He emphasized the importance of shluchim continually strengthening their Torah knowledge so they can properly guide their communities in accordance with halacha.
