In a major and exciting development, a worldwide broadcast will connect, in real time, the massive crowds gathered at the Children’s Sefer Torah celebration in Yerushalayim with thousands of chassidim at the Ohel of the Rebbe’s father in Kazakhstan and at 770 in New York.
The completion ceremony for the writing of the letters of the ninth Sefer Torah dedicated to Jewish children will take place on Monday, Chof Menachem Av, at the Kosel Hamaaravi. Tens of thousands are expected to attend, in accordance with the Rebbe’s request that everyone participate in the siyum.
This year, the historic celebration will also enable tens of thousands more around the world to join the event and take part in the celebration.
One month before the event, the organizing committee has now announced that the siyum is receiving an unprecedented production upgrade, creating a live connection that will unite the Jewish world at one moment in time.
At the center of the broadcast, tens of thousands of children in Yerushalayim will be connected directly with thousands of chassidim who will gather in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, on the yom hilulah of the Rebbe’s father, Harav Levi Yitzchak, on Chof Av.
From there, the live connection will continue to 770 in New York, where thousands will mark the day in the Rebbe’s daled amos. The broadcast will also connect with additional Jewish communities around the world, allowing participants to celebrate and dance together in real time.
At the Kosel, final preparations are underway to accommodate the expected crowds, alongside the continued distribution of a historic album documenting the Children’s Sefer Torah campaign, which was launched by the Rebbe 45 years ago and is being distributed in Anash communities.
“All the letters in the ninth Sefer Torah have already been purchased,” says Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, chairman of the Children’s Sefer Torah Committee. “Registration for the tenth Sefer Torah has now begun.”
