Seven-term Congresswoman Yvette Clarke easily defeated multiple challengers for the Democratic Party nomination for New York’s 9th congressional district.

With all regular ballots counted, Clarke won 37,106 votes or 62% with Adem Bunkeddeko finishing second at 18%. Chaim Deutsch received just 5,622 votes or 9.4%, only slightly ahead of Isiah James at 9.1%. In last place was Lutchi Gayot, who got just 1%.

While Absentee ballots have not been counted yet, it is highly unlikely that anyone can overtake Clarke, given her massive 44.4 percentage point advantage. Official results won’t be ready for another week.

Assemblywoman Diana Richardson handily defeated Jesse Hamilton, winning at least 67 percent of the vote. Hamilton was trying to make a political comeback after losing his state Senate seat in 2018 to Sen. Zellnor Myrie.
