Congressman Touched by Gift at Ohel Visit

By Anash.org reporter

US Congress Member Max Rose, who represents Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn including Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst, visited the Ohel for the first time today, Tuesday, 26 Av/August 27.

The visit was organized by Rabbi Avrohom Hertz of Chabad of Bensonhurst and included Director of Ohel Lubavitch Rabbi Abba Refson, Rabbi Mendel Katzman of Chabad of Staten Island, and community activist and attorney Igor Vaysberg.

Congress Member Rose prayed by the Ohel and then put on tefillin. He enjoyed the spiritual experience and promised to return. Rose, who is Jewish, was born in Brooklyn and is a veteran of the US Army. While serving in Afghanistan, he was wounded when his vehicle hit an explosive device. For his service, Congress Member Rose received the Combat Infantryman Badge, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

The Congressman also received a pair of tefillin at the Ohel as a gift, a gesture that touched him very much.
