At the “Meet the Candidates” forum, Crown Heights residents got to hear the candidates’ plans for the growing community. Five candidates announced that they are running together as a slate.

With the election for the CHJCC Vaad Hakohol coming up in less than two weeks, the community gathered to hear candidates present their vision for the Crown Heights community.
The “Meet the Candidates” forum took place on Monday night at Lubavitcher Yeshivah. In attendance were candidates: Dovid Halon, Meir New, Yankel Goldstein, Shmuel Rosenstein, Berel Hildeshaim, Zalman Friedman, and Pinchos Woolstone. Candidate Yitzie Kamman joined via Zoom. The moderator was Avi Lesches.
Each candidate was given 3 minutes to introduce themselves and their vision. Following the presentations, questions were put forth and candidates had an opportunity to respond.
Common themes that candidates spoke about were the cost of housing, more resources for the community through grants, the lack of parking (and the city bikes), getting additional
Candidate Meir New announced that he and four other candidates were running as a slate, allowing them to accomplish more as a group. They are: Meir New, Shmuel Rosenstein, Berel Hildeshaim, Zalman Friedman, and Dovid Halon.
Various individuals in the crowd who had been involved with the Vaad Hakohol in its early years emphasized the Rebbe’s involvement in the establishment of the Vaad and how important it was to the Rebbe that there be a successful Vaad to function alongside the Rabbonim.
