‘Circle of Heroes’ Brings Bereaved Families to the Rebbe

Nearly 40 bereaved Israeli families from across New York gathered on Erev Rosh Chodesh Tammuz for a special day dedicated to strengthening their connection to the Rebbe, organized by Circle of Heroes. The organization caters to families whose relative was killed through war or terror acts in Eretz Yisroel.
The program was initiated and arranged by philanthropist Perry Hyman and his wife Shirley, together with Dr. Pazit Levitan. Throughout the day, the group was guided by Rabbi Yisroel Lerner.
The goal of the program was to deepen the families’ connection to the Rebbe and to highlight the personal attention and care the Rebbe showed to bereaved families, long before the subject became widely recognized in public discourse. Inspired by the Rebbe’s vision, numerous organizations were established to support bereaved families, and Circle of Heroes continues in that spirit today.
Following breakfast at Patis Bakery in Kingston, participants traveled to 770 Eastern Parkway, where they toured the Rebbe’s room and learned about his life and leadership. From there, the group continued to the Ohel, where they spent time in prayer and reflection.
The day concluded with a heartfelt farbrengen near the Ohel, bringing together families from diverse backgrounds in an atmosphere of inspiration, support, and unity.
For Perry Hyman, the event carried special personal significance. His father was killed during the War of Attrition, and as a child, he received support from Tzach programs for bereaved families. Today, he is committed to ensuring that other families receive the same care and encouragement that helped him during those difficult years.
