The attacker who stabbed Chaim M., a 28-year-old Lubavitcher bochur from Russia, outside the Rubashkin home on President Street was apprehended today in a joint operation between Shomrim and the local police force.

After a week-long manhunt, officers from the NYPD 71 precinct have successfully tracked and apprehended the attacker.

Rubashkin home on President Street serves as both a soup kitchen and a venue for small events and simchas throughout the year. According to reports, the attacker was a non-Jewish man who had been around the Crown Heights community posing as a Jew and benefiting from the community’s amazing Chesed.

Crown Heights Hatzalah arrived in record time and provided him with immediate medical care before he was rushed to Kings County Hospital in critical condition. Crown Heights community security activists arrived soon at the scene and went through the painstaking effort of identifying and tracking down the attacker by obtaining and reviewing security camera footage of the incident and the path where the attacker fled.
