25 Chabad Homes in Florida Damaged in Pesach Floods

Over 25 homes belonging to members of the Hallandale Chabad House community were damaged in a major flood during Pesach. A campaign is underway to help them back on their feet.

Message from Chabad of South Broward

Dear Friend(s), שי׳

By now you are aware that we had in Hallandale Beach a major flood last week. Many families had to leave their homes on PESACH! SOME WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMES IN SEVERAL MONTHS, AFTER THEIR HOMES ARE REPAIRED!!!

THE NUMBER OF FLOOD VICTIMS HAS APPARENTLY DOUBLED. PEOPLE WHO RETURNED HOME THIS WEEK AFTER SPENDING PESACH WITH THEIR PARENTS AND THEIR IN LAWS WERE SHOCKED TO WHAT THEY CAME HOME TO! ORIGINALLY WE THOUGHT 13 FAMILIES WERE AFFECTED. THE NUMBER IS NOW CLIMBING TO 25!!!

MANY WHO WERE HARD HIT ARE MEMBERS OF ANASH!!

Just last night someone wrote us:

Rabbi how are you and your family after the flooding? Hope you all are okay ….we got completely flooded all the furniture, oven, washer, dryer, salon set, beds, everything is gone we had to get out of the house …. I see in our group Chabad is collecting donations for relief please include us in it …. it’s urgent family of 8 ….. my daughter lost her car, and all her working equipment. I lost my car as well and all my working tools …. under water …we need some help …. currently we can’t go back to the house there is heat blowers and fans to dry the walls all over and the smell is horrible ….we lost clothes and shoes towels everything ….wish you good blessings …

On the last days of Pesach, Hallandale Beach had a rainstorm and flooding that the media called: a 1 in 1,000 years rainstorm!

Many families near our main Synagogue in Hallandale Beach suffered enormous flooding, and numerous families were forced to leave their homes on Yom Tov! Some of the men, women and children won’t be able to return to their homes for several months, due to the destruction caused by the flooding, and the need to practically rebuild the entire inside of their homes.

We are helping everyone in need, with the confidence that a Generous Baal Tzedakah like yourself, will be so kind to help us help these families with food, housing, clothing and whatever else they need until their homes are repaired and their lives are in order.

Some of our friends and neighbors lived on the first floor of an apartment building without any insurance whatsoever.

Many many thanks for your extraordinary generosity!

May all who were affected by this flood, merit to see great Chesed, kindness, follow this harsh Gevuros, severity.

Everyone who helps us help rebuild the lives of people in our community affected by the flood, will certainly be repaid by HaShem 1,000 times!!!

Wishing you a Good Chodesh and a Good Shabbos,

I remain,

Sincerely,

Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus
