As the yeshiva year resumes in full force, the main shul in 770 Eastern Parkway is filled with the sweet sound of Torah learning from early morning until late at night.

Even before Seder Chassidus begins at 7:30 AM, the large room fills up with bochurim learning a ma’amar or a sicha. Following Shacharis and breakfast, the zal once again fills up as the bochurim learn the ‘Yeshiva Masechta’ of the year, or debate over a Shach or Taz in Yoreh Deah.

In an average year, many American bochurim learn in the small zal upstairs. This year, however, only a small number of bochurim are allowed inside, and even those bochurim sometimes arrive to find the door locked.
