The shamash candle on Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah was lit on Motzei Shabbos by NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, in a ceremony attended by a large crowd, masked and socially distanced.
Commissioner Shea was accompanied by Rabbi Shimon Hecht of NCJFE’s Chabad of Park Slope, who puts up the menorah every year and arranged the nightly celebrations.
The menorah will be lit tonight, Sunday, at 5:30 pm, and the remaining nights of Chanukah at 6:00 pm.
