On Thursday night, Shomrim responded to a report of a woman setting a tree on fire on a Crown Heights street. After containing the blaze, surveillance footage revealed the same suspect igniting another fire nearby, which Shomrim then directed the Fire Department to extinguish.
At 10:00 PM, Shomrim responded within one minute to a report of a woman setting a tree on fire. Volunteers arrived with fire extinguishers and quickly put out the flames.
While reviewing nearby camera footage, Shomrim spotted a second fire set by the same suspect inside a nearby construction site. Volunteers directed FDNY to the exact location, and they safely extinguished the fire.
Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Shomrim and FDNY, both fires were contained without further damage. FDNY is not currently investigating the incidents as arson.
