As we enter Gimmel Tammuz, Rabbi Avrohom Lipszyc, Shliach in North Miami, Florida, has published a new booklet on the maamar VeAtah Tetzaveh, the last maamar the Rebbe edited and published before the stroke of Chof-Zayin Adar 5752.

Significantly, the Rebbe personally distributed this maamar, one by one, to thousands of Chassidim, men, women, and children.

The Rebbe writes in Hayom Yom that true hiskashrus comes through learning the Rebbe’s Torah. With Gimmel Tammuz approaching, learning this maamar, the final one the Rebbe personally gave out with his own hands, is a fitting expression of hiskashrus.

VeAtah Tetzaveh is based on an earlier maamar of the same name by the Frierdiker Rebbe from 5687 (1927). In it, the Rebbe explains that Moshe Rabbeinu serves as a “shepherd of faith,” nurturing and internalizing the inherent emunah of Yidden, and that this role continues through the “extensions of Moshe” found in every generation.

The Rebbe further explains that being “crushed” by the hardships of golus can itself reveal the essence of a Yid’s neshamah, bringing to the surface a bond with Hashem that exists beyond the level of conscious thought.

Less than two weeks after the Rebbe distributed this maamar, on 27 Adar I, the Rebbe suffered the stroke that ultimately led to Gimmel Tammuz two years later. In hindsight, many came to recognize the significance of that night and of the maamar that the Rebbe had taken such personal care to distribute himself.

The Kuntres is laid out to walk the reader through the mamar step by step, with a Compiler’s Letter and General Introduction, a breakdown of the structure of the Frierdiker Rebbe’s original mamar, a breakdown of the structure of the Rebbe’s mamar, the mamar itself, and an unchecked transcription of the mamar as the Rebbe said it.

This new booklet is designed to help readers understand the profound concepts presented in VeAtah Tetzaveh and deepen their appreciation of its message as Gimmel Tammuz approaches, with the hope and prayer that we will soon be reunited with the Rebbe and merit to hear Torah chadashah from him once again.
