Six years ago, at the International Kinus Hashluchim, Rabbi Sholom Raichik of Chabad of Upper Montgomery County, Maryland, stood before thousands of his fellow shluchim to advocate for a fellow member of Anash in urgent need of a kidney donation.
Inspired by the call to action, Rabbi Raichik swabbed at that very event, joining the donor registry in the merit of the individual he spoke for.
Yesterday, that journey came full circle.
Rabbi Raichik has become a kidney donor himself—giving the gift of life to a remarkable 78-year-old woman. Thanks to his selfless act, she now has the chance to live a newly energized life, filled with possibilities.
