R’ Bentzion Chanowitz, a resident of Brooklyn and founder of the Bais Yisroel Torah Gemach, passed away on Wednesday, 7 Nissan.
R’ Bentzion Chanowitz, a resident of Brooklyn and founder of the Bais Yisroel Torah Gemach, passed away on Wednesday, 7 Nissan.
He was 69.
He was well-known for his dedicated work establishing the Torah Gemach, through which he provided and lent out Sifrei Torah to Shluchim and new communities around the world.
R’ Bentzion was also the inventive mind behind Babshi’s Shabbos Pan, an ingenious patented pot, affectionately named after his wife, designed to sit securely on top of a cholent pot or slow cooker to keep food warm on Shabbos.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Babshi Chanowitz, and their children: Yoni Chanowitz – Crown Heights, and Aliza Vishnia – Eretz Yisroel.
He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Chaye Freyda Kohl – Highland Park, NJ.
The levaya will pass by 770 today, Wednesday, at 2:15 PM.
