A new and comprehensive biography of the Rebbe Maharash’s youngest son, Reb Menachem Mendel, was distributed as a teshurah at the upsherenish of Menachem Mendel Mellul in Crown Heights, today.
Despite two earlier attempts at chronicling the life of the youngest of the three sons of the Rebbe Maharash, this is the first comprehensive publication about Reb Mendel’s life.
Reb Mendel was born within the year of his zeide the Tzemach Tzedek’s histalkus, and was named after him. He lived in France in his later years and passed away there. His body was later – as per the Rebbe’s instructions – reburied in Tzfas.
Author Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Mellul, the father of the upsherenish boy, a native of France, writes how he was always fascinated with Reb Mendel – and by extension anything that pertains to Beis Harav in his home country.
