On Gimmel Tammuz, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida, led by Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowitz, welcomed new shluchim, Rabbi Shalom and Devorie Katz, together with their young daughter Sheina, who arrived in Ft. Myers to cater to the city’s growing Israeli population.

On Gimmel Tammuz, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida officially welcomed new shluchim, Rabbi Shalom and Devorie Katz, together with their young daughter Sheina.

The celebration took place at the Katz family’s new home in Fort Myers, where local community members gathered to greet the young couple, who arrived from Eretz Yisroel to begin their shlichus to the area’s growing Israeli population. The event was hosted by Chabad of Southwest Florida under the leadership of Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz.

The Katz family’s arrival represents a significant expansion of Chabad’s activities in the region, with a special focus on creating programs, events, and support systems tailored to Israelis living in Southwest Florida.

“In light of the ongoing war in Eretz Yisroel, this is not just a moment of celebration, but one of purpose,” said Rabbi Minkowicz. “Our Israeli brothers and sisters abroad need connection and strength. The Katz family’s shlichus is a timely and powerful reflection of the Rebbe’s call to reach every Yid with warmth, love, and dedication.”

Their arrival on the day of Gimmel Tammuz highlighted the meaning of their mission to actualize the Rebbe’s shlichus to bring Yiddishkeit to every corner of the world.
