Mega Online Event to Explore ‘Mivtza Chinuch’ for All
A mega online event this Wednesday will feature twelve speakers from across a wide range of roles and demographics to explore how Mivtzah Chinuch can permeate every aspect of life.
50 years ago, the Rebbe made a passionate call that we do all we can for the Chinuch of Yiddishe children, but many of us wonder what it means. What if I’m not cut out for teaching? What if I’m not a parent yet? What if I’m a business person with hardly a moment to spare? What if I’m busy running a successful Chabad house? What if I’m already in Chinuch and not sure what more I could do?
So does Mivtzah Chinuch apply to each and every person, or was this a request for those already involved in education?
The Rebbe said that we must make a “Tumult and a Shturem,” making it clear that Mivtzah Chinuch must be a central point for everyone, no matter their role, stage of life, or environment. As we mark 50 years since the Rebbe launched this monumental Mivtzah, it’s time to unpack exactly what he demanded of us.
On Wednesday, כ’’ו אייר / May 13 from 7:30-9:30 PM, the Merkos Chinuch Office together with the Menachem Education Foundation invite all community members, including parents, Shluchim, Shluchos, Balabatim, Anash, educators, business people, camp counselors and more to attend an evening of Chinuch on how “Mivtzah Chinuch Begins With You.”
The mega online event will feature twelve speakers from across a wide range of roles and demographics to explore how Mivtzah Chinuch can permeate every aspect of life, providing insight and inspiration on how every person can heed the Rebbe’s passionate call.
Featured speakers include Shluchim, community members, balabatim, teachers, and more, including Harav Menachem Mendel Gluckowsky of Eretz Yisroel on how the Rebbe views Chinuch, Rabbi Shais Taub on Chinuch at home, Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum on Chinuch at the youngest ages, and Rabbi Mendel Gordon on what Mivtzah Chinuch looks like on Shlichus.
Rabbi Zalman Leib Markowitz will share what the most powerful tools in education are, and Rabbi Yosef Hodakov of LHA Florida will expound on how teachers can incorporate the Rebbe’s Chinuch approach in their classrooms.
To highlight the business person’s perspective, Rabbi Eliyahu Kholodenko of Toronto, CA will address how people can prioritize Mivtzah Chinuch at work, and Rabbi Yaakov Shallman of Los Angeles, CA will speak about where one’s own Chinuch comes in long after graduating Yeshivah and seminary.
Rabbi Zalman Shneur of the Menachem Education Foundation will address a focal point of Mivtzah Chinuch, which is giving every child a Jewish education, and Rabbi Hertzel Pewzner will share insight on the inner voice we can instill in our children through the 12 Pesukim.
The evening is dedicated in honor of the second Yartzeit of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky OBM, and his son, Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, will share a special tribute. The evening will be MC’d by Rabbi Zalmy Lowenthal, Associate Director of the Merkos Chinuch Office, and Rabbi Zalmy Kudan will conclude the event with a powerful and practical “u’vechain” segment, especially as we enter the summer season and Mivtzah Chinuch is essential in camp.
With this wide range of speakers and topics, and even more to be released shortly, let’s join together as a community to fill the Rebbe’s passionate call in every way.
Hosted by Chabad.org, join on Wednesday כ’’ו אייר / May 13 at 7:30 PM EST.
