It was just a little over a month ago that I spoke with Levi in the days leading up to the passing of my Bubby.
Rabbi Levi had visited her home to assist with vidui. When I asked him whether I should fly in at that point, he responded with words that now echo in my heart with deep emotion: “Only Hashem knows the timing for everyone.” Today, I hear these words with a heavy heart and a deep sigh.
As I studied the Maamar Basi Legani this Shabbos, I reflected on how Levi truly embodied the words, “Who is the man who knows when his time will come?” For as long as I knew him, Levi lived fully—cherishing every moment as a chossid and a shliach.
Levi was there for my family with such humility and compassion, but beyond that, he was the greatest example of a friend, father, family member, community leader, chossid, and shliach. His presence uplifted those around him, including myself, and he continuously set the highest example of what it means to be a shliach. Since I embarked on my own shlichus recently, Levi was always available, offering guidance through WhatsApp on any question I had.
This past Shabbos, as I reviewed Siman Chaf-Zayin in Igeres Hakodesh, I felt that Levi’s impact has not ended—it has only grown stronger. Because of the way he lived devoted to shlichus, he is impacting us even greater now. He inspires me even more to do whatever I can to be a shliach fully.
May we soon be reunited with Levi, with the coming of Moshiach now. Ad Masai?!
