Largest Democratic Voter Drive In Crown Heights History

Through joint community outreach efforts in the Shchunah with selfless volunteers, over 1,000 residents have taken an active role in the political process and can now make their voices heard at the ballot box during this election.

Since the launch of Ahron Gluck‘s campaign for New York State Assembly, voter engagement across Crown Heights has skyrocketed. As the final day to register to vote to participate in this year’s primary has concluded, it was learned that just over 1,000 community members have either registered to vote as a Democrat or have updated their voter registrations after moving back into the district from other parts of New York. Ensuring they are eligible to vote locally and have a say in who will represent their neighborhood.

While this technically isn’t the largest CH voter registration drive as a whole, this is, however, the largest Democrat voter registration drive with nearly a staggering 98% of newly registered voters enrolled in the Democratic Party so they can participate in the ongoing NY Assembly election of the Democratic primary. Many who have registered under previous voter registration drives have been uninformed at the time as to which political party to select—unfortunately, some can’t participate in this year’s primary unless they are a Democrat.

Another aspect that differentiates this successful voter registration drive from all others is that the recently completed Democratic voter registration drive was accomplished with a $0 budget.

Organizers of the voter registration drive would like to thank Anash.org for their tremendous effort and generosity in promoting the Democratic voter registration drive. Those involved would like to thank as well the six elected community leaders of the Crown Heights Jewish community, along with their affiliates, for their volunteer effort, tireless dedication, and support helping to spread voter awareness, and some of the smaller Yeshivas, which willingly participated for the sake of the Chinuch of our children.

Through joint community outreach efforts in the Shchunah with selfless volunteers, over 1,000 residents have taken an active role in the political process and can now make their voices heard at the ballot box during this election.

Community strategists have noted that the additional voters, who are almost entirely registered Democrats, can be the deciding factor if NYS Assembly candidate Ahron Gluck has enough votes to win the election.

Askonim also noted that this year’s Democratic primary ‘early voting’ overlaps with the week of Gimmel Tammuz and that hundreds, if not thousands, of Crown Heights Bochurim that are normally away all year round in out-of-town Yeshivas, will now be in Crown Heights and can participate in the election. Parents are encouraged to bring along all registered household members so they can also vote.

As Yeshiva finishes this week and camp starts next week, supporters of Gluck stressed that any Crown Heights resident who will be going away for the summer and will not be in town during Election Day should make it a priority beforehand to go to the polls any day during this entire week or this coming Sunday of ‘early voting’ so they can vote.

While residents head to the polls during the ongoing early voting elections to vote for Ahron Gluck, as the community try’s to iyh make history in Crown Heights, bear in mind that there are also other important races on the ballot, including: Members of the State Committee candidates Nakisha OEvans AND Akel K. Williamsboth whom are friends, allies and strong supporters of the Crown Heights Jewish community and Anash are recommended to cast their ballots for Ms. Evans and Mr. Williams along with Ahron Gluck.
