The inspiring Shabbat at the CYP Encounter concluded on a high note with a meaningful Havdala concert centered around the “Ambassadors of Light” that left a profound impact on attendees.
The Havdala ceremony and concert, led by singer Bentzi Marcus, was a moving experience that united young Jewish professionals from around the world over their shared love of their heritage. Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302, opened the evening by delivering a message of empowerment, emphasizing the role of every individual in inspiring positive change in their circle of influence. He then called the CYP Ambassadors to the stage to share their stories of impact, highlighting the need and ability of every young professional to positively influence their friends and coworkers.
Josh Hoffman, a rocket scientist from Austin, Texas, reflected, “The concert last night was a reminder that when we put our Judaism first, life is more uplifting, inspiring, and meaningful.”
The concert continued into the early hours, reinvigorating young Jews and strengthening their connection to faith, heritage, and each other.
The CYP Encounter Shabbaton welcomed over 600 young Jewish professionals from around the world. Participants explored the rich history and philosophy of the Chabad movement and engaged with the local Crown Heights community who generously opened their homes to the young Jews, helping them gain insight into traditional Jewish life.
Addressing workplace and social challenges faced by young Jewish professionals, the Shabbaton provided a safe platform for open discussions and networking. Invigorating them with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
Robert Voronov, a Senior Tech Developer from Toronto, expressed, “weekends like these show me that I am part of an international Jewish community. It’s about interacting with Rabbis and fellow young professionals from around the world, further developing our Jewish identity.”
