In an exciting twist, the Jewish Federation of Colombus, Ohio encouraged Jews to combat hate by lighting the menorah.

“We feel strongly that we should not be afraid of who we are,” said Mr. Justin Shaw of Jewish Columbus. “We should not let darkness extinguish the light.”
Shliach Rabbi Aryeh Kaltmann, also of Columbus, is excited to see the local federation sharing this message, working toward the same goal.
Rabbi Kaltmann shared a video of him and Mr. Shaw being interviewed by the local news along with the following message:
“My revered teacher, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, taught how greatly blessed we are to live in this wonderful country of kindness, the United States of America. Everyone of us is a candle and we can light up the world and bring warmth to the darkest of places. When each of us have a relationship with a Higher Authority (ie, G-d), then despicable acts of hatred simply don’t happen.”
