Elected Officials Silent as NYS Attempts To Demolish Crown Heights Shul
New York State politicians are pushing to demolish the historic Kingsbrook Synagogue — one of the oldest Shuls in Crown Heights — and replace it with yet another homeless shelter. Ahron Gluck is here to stop that.
Crown Heights history is at risk.
New York State politicians are pushing to demolish the historic Kingsbrook Synagogue — one of the oldest Shuls in Crown Heights — and replace it with yet another homeless shelter.
The elected officials are funding ‘One Brooklyn Health’, which oversees Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, and are attempting to tear down our community Shul building.
A Lubavitcher and member of Congregation Chaim Albert – Kingsbrook Synagogue, stated: “If this would be a house of worship for any other religion, the local elected officials would be holding non-stop press conferences, and would fix the situation in under 48 hours. The New York State elected officials hold the power to return the Shul to its congregants, but deliberately refuse to do so.”
Ahron Gluck, a Crown Heights resident, announced last week that he is running for NYS Assembly to stand up for our community.
Gluck released a campaign video on Instagram, which quickly amassed over 10,000 views, vows that if elected, he will erupt the entire New York Democratic establishment and work with Governor Kathy Hochul to preserve our century old Synagogue, rightfully return the Shul to the Crown Heights / East Flatbush Jewish community and designate the Chaim Albert Synagogue building and property as a historic Jewish site.
To vote for Ahron Gluck in the Democratic primary, you must be registered as a Democrat:

This seems really insufferable. This Shul may actually be the second oldest next to 770. Actually it functioned as a Shul before 770 did I believe. Well kiddos what’s next on the hit list I wonder??
Bies David Gershon shul is the oldest shul in crown heights still in operation shabbos and Yom tov
has anyone approached rabbi chazan?
https://onebrooklynhealth.org/about-obh/leadership – this is who runs One Brooklyn Health (OBH) which has great power over the shul, which is under legal title of the hospital.
The three titled officers of the board are Alexander Rovt ( Russian Jewish Billionaire / Chair and boss of Brookdale), Reverand Robert Waterman (Vice-Pres and boss of Interfaith) and Henna White (Lubavitch / Secretary and boss of Kingsbrook, which has legal title of Kingsbrook Shul).
Rabbi Chazon is NOT on the Board of Directors.
Henna White is the BOSS of Kingsbrook, and appointed about 1/3 of the total board of directors, who are nothing more than lackies of the person who appointed them.
The rich and/or powerful in Crown Heights do not have the guts to call out someone who is part of the Crown Heights aristocracy who is destroying a Jewish house of worship.
Gov Hochul can tell her appointed Commissioner of NYS Homes and Community Renewal (“HCR”) not to finance the affordable housing which will result in the destruction of the Kingsbrook Synagogue.
Colonel Jacob Goldstein (former CB 9 Chair) is one of the Assistant Directors of NYS HCR which is funding the Shul’s destruction – maybe he can help too by speaking to Commissioner, and telling her to protect and preserve a historic Jewish site ( Kingsbrook is a NYS Historic Eligible site), just like NYS has protected a local historic Black site called Weeksville, a few blocks up the road.

And if you have read this far, and want more, I will give you one more document that shows that the developer (Monadnock), signed a legal document years ago with NYS saying synagogue (the ancient adjacent structure) would be be NOT destroyed and there would be a Construction Protection Plan to protect during construction of the Northern Buildings ( Vital Brooklyn Kingsbrook Estates).
https://www.kingsbrookshul.com/_files/ugd/36b35b_a162214fdb2240f5b98c73508310cbb1.pdf – go to page 3, #2 – the synagogue is the adjacent structure ….You don’t believe me…ok….I will give you more
https://www.kingsbrookshul.com/_files/ugd/36b35b_ab6e3edbe2bb4101bcd08446f2160e80.pdf?index=true = look at page 3, number 7- where synagogue is referred to an an adjacent structure to the Kingsbrook Estate….are you convinced ? no?….you want more….what? a map…ok…I will get you the map…..
https://www.kingsbrookshul.com/maps – scroll down to see how the Shul is just south and excluded from where the proposed Kingsbrook Estates is…So how do you get approval to change buildings plans of Kingsbrook Estates, without getting approval from NYS Parks, Recreation to knock down historic Jewish synagogue which is in use, and which already has a signed Letter of Resolution from developer from NYS Parks & Rec saying synagogue will be protected according to a Construction Protection Plan that should be filed right now with the NYC DOB ? https://www.kingsbrookshul.com/_files/ugd/36b35b_a162214fdb2240f5b98c73508310cbb1.pdf – p 3, (#2)
Last thought, Decades ago, the Rebbe sent us a message in a bottle about Kingsbrook – it’s never too late to correct something that should have been done before – the message of Second Passover.
