Excitement filled the air as contestants from Kitah Ches of Bais Rivkah, Bnos Menachem, and Bais Chaya Mushka stepped up on the stage for a grand halacha Chidon. 

The Chidon on Kitzur Shulchan Aruch was the culmination of a year of intensive learning of selected simanim in Kitzur relevant to the girls. The year was divided into four quarters, with written tests given after each quarter. Girls who had an average of 85% and higher were eligible for cash rewards for their accomplishments. Students with the top averages had the privilege of going on stage.

The Chidon was held in Bais Rivkah – Campus Chomesh last Thursday, 19 Sivan, and was masterfully mc’d by Mrs. G. Rosenfeld, principal of the Bais Rivkah elementary division.  

The Chidon was attended by girls from Kitah Ches from all three mosdos. After davening together, the official program began with the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s kapitel, followed by excerpts of a JEM video highlighting the Rebbe’s directive about the importance of learning הלכה למעשה and specifically Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. 

Judges for the Chidon were Rabbi Mendel Eidelman and Rabbi Levi Zirkind, who prepared the questions and monitored the girls’ answers. 

There were two rounds of questions, which were asked by Mrs. Hildeshaim, principal of Bnos Menachem, and Mrs. Sandhause, principal of Bais Chaya Mushka.    

Between the rounds, a student representative from each mosad gave over Dvrei Torah, including the importance of learning halacha and the special shlichus each Yiddishe maidel has spreading kedusha with her Tznius in behavior, speech, and dress.

Beautiful sefarim were awarded to the first, second, and third-place students. Envelopes with cash awards were presented to all the girls who had achieved scores of 85% and above.
