In response to NYCASP’s (New York City Alternate Side Parking) announcement that rules will be in effect tomorrow (Tuesday), Councilman Chaim Deutsch stated his willingness to support people who may receive violations.
“If you receive a violation for parking during street cleaning,” Deutsch tweeted, “please contact my office. I will gladly write you a support letter reminding the city that we are in a #StateOfEmergency, there is a pandemic raging, and people are being asked to STAY INSIDE!”
Deutsch is appealing to NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio to follow Jersey City’s mayor Steven Fulop and suspend alternate side parking rules.
On Friday, Fulop announced that with Jersey City schools closing, alternate side parking rules would be suspended. “I know many people are being encouraged to work from home,” he tweeted, “and many parents will be home with children, so we want to do our best to make it as easy as possible for people.”
