300 Crown Heights high school girls came together Sunday to train for their roles as counselors in summer camps across the world.
The event was organized and hosted by Bais Rivka High School and launched the partnership between CKids and Lubavitch high schools to benefit the girls and the shluchim they will be working for.
Leading the training was Rabbi Zalmy Kudan, veteran youth director of Chabad of S. Barbara, California. Rabbi Kudan gave over tools and tips so the counselors can better interact with camp directors and campers. Bais Rivka principal Mrs. Shaindel Teichtel emceed the event.
Participants were also addressed by Merkos’s vice chairman, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky who reminded them of the importance of their summer shlichus. “The impact camp has on children can change their lives,” he said. “You are the Rebbe’s messengers, bringing Yiddishkeit to children all over the world.
CKids thanks Bais Rivka’s Rabbi Benjy Stock, Mrs. Teichtel, Mrs. Zirkind and Mrs. Sara Blau for arranging the event.
“I feel much more confident in running a camp,” said participant Malka A. “The skills and tools we got will really help us.”
