Ahead of Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz’s birthday last week, Professor Alan Dershowitz visited his Los Angeles home, accompanied by Rabbi Zvi Boyarski.

The Hurwitz’s home in Los Angeles is no stranger to high profile visitors. The flow of visitors almost never stops and ranges from bochurim to professors, from singers to rabbonim. The common denominator between them all, is they all come away inspired by Rabbi Yitzi‘s joy, positivity and love of life and Torah.
Last week, ahead of his birthday, Rabbi Yitzi was visited by Professor Alan Dershowitz, one of the most prominent American Lawers and Professor emeritus at the Harvard Law School.
Professor Dershowitz was accompanied by Rabbi Zvi Boyarski of the Aleph Institute. Professor Dershowitz has been instrumental in helping the Aleph Institution in their many battles for the incarcerated, including the long-fought battle for Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin‘s release. He was recently honored by Aleph with a Siyum Sefer Torah in his merit.
Rabbi Boyarski also brought Professor Dershowitz to see Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon Chabad next door where they spent some time speaking to bochurim and the staff.
The visit came a few days before Rabbi Yitzi’s birthday was celebrated with an international ‘Tefillin for Yitzi’ campaign. Tens of thousands across the globe joined the celebration by donning tefillin or helping others put on tefillin, with a total of over 30,000 men putting on tefillin!
