A Laugh (or More) a Day

Await the Mitzvah of the Day by Miri Majeski comes in the form of a meme that can be learned, laughed at, and then further disseminated over personal status updates or other social media.

You know that pat—or push—on the back that comes to people in the form of some Heavenly sign with a dollar of the Rebbe, a chance meeting, or an unlikely windfall?

Mine came via WhatsApp.

It was a really busy time, the week of my daughter’s wedding, in fact. In the whirlwind lead-up, the wrap-up, travel plans…I had fallen off the Sefer Hamitzvos wagon. Then I woke up (a bit bleary-eyed) to a “welcome back” post from Await the Mitzvah.

Await the Mitzvah of the Day was initiated by my talented sister-in-law Miri to engage as many others as possible in the mivtza established by the Rebbe for men, women, and children of every segment of Jewish life, one the Rebbe called, “a bakashah nafshis (heartfelt plea)”. To join the initiative, you sign up to a WhatsApp group where the mitzvah or mitzvos from Sefer Hamitzvos are posted daily. Each mitzvah comes in the form of a meme that can be learned, laughed at, and then further disseminated over personal status updates or other social media.

After a few steady months of posts, and an ever-increasing audience, Miri’s entrance to motherhood and a general lack of funding got in the way of her creative output, and Await the Mitzvah sadly went into hiatus. But then, just a month ago, Miri was inspired to start again, encouraged in no small part, I’m sure, by some of the over one thousand beneficiaries who enjoy the memes as much as I do. They are “creative”, “genius on so many levels”, what one participant “literally wait[s] for every day” and another calls “a good laugh”.

While the original Await the Mitzvah group has maxed at 1000 members, a new group has opened so you can join too! Just click this invite link and be entertained. https://chat.whatsapp.com/K8ypWPfCaAt4wocKKkMBU7?mode=ac_c!

Maybe this article can be your sign to get on the Sefer Hamitzvos wagon today.

P.S. Await the Mitzvah also offers the incredible merit of supporting thousands in their learning of the daily Sefer Hamitzvos as requested by the Rebbe.
