Amongst the many thousands of people packed into 770 to celebrate the Rebbe’s 80th birthday, one of them was there on a special assignment.
Donal Holway, then a photographer for the Washington Post, was assigned to cover the event in Brooklyn, not quite knowing what to expect.
In a 2007 interview, he recalls his reaction upon entering the room, the overwhelming emotion, and how he positioned himself for the best pictures of the historic event.
This is the story behind a collection of ninety special pictures of Yud Alef Nissan 5742, now published by JEM for the first time.
