President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit to the Chabad House in Kherson, Ukraine which was firebombed by hooligans a little over three months ago.
The president met with the Shliach of Kherson and the chief rabbi Kherson region Rabbi Yossi Wolff, and got himself acquainted with the work of the Chabad.
During the visit, President Zelenskyy also inspected the repaired parts of the building, which were damaged by criminals during an arson attempt in April this year.
Rabbi Wolff thanked the President for the quick reaction of the Ukrainian authorities to this act of anti-Semitism. Three weeks after the incident, police detained two suspects in the crime.
During a meeting, the President and the Chief Rabbi presented letters of gratitude to Chief of Police of the Kherson Region Oleksandr Prokudin and Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the region Serhiy Kryvoruchko for the rapid crime solution.
“The main thing is not that this is a quick and correct result. I think the most important thing – and it happened – is that all people see that there are citizens of Ukraine in Ukraine. And, regardless of nationality, religion, they are all protected by the state of Ukraine, our institutions, our law enforcement agencies. The most important thing is for everyone to feel like people here,” the President said.
