On Thursday, Gimmel Iyar, the regional Kinus Hashluchim of Southwest France, was held in the city of Toulouse. The event also marked a historic milestone: 50 years since Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok and Mrs. Esther Matusof arrived in Toulouse as the Rebbe’s shluchim.

Shluchim from across the region—including Bordeaux, Béziers, Pau, Perpignan, Biarritz, and Andorra—joined together with the local Toulouse team for a full day of camaraderie, inspiration, and renewed dedication to their mission.

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch traveled from New York to participate and share words of encouragement. He paid tribute to the Matusofs for their five decades of unwavering mesirus nefesh and leadership, serving as pioneers of the Rebbe’s vision in France.

Rabbi Matusof shared personal reflections on their arrival in Toulouse in the early 5730s, the many challenges and miracles they experienced, and the tremendous growth of Torah and Yiddishkeit in the region.

All present joined together in heartfelt tefillah: that Hashem grant the shluchim continued hatzlachah in their holy work—and most importantly, that we merit to welcome Moshiach b’korov mamash. Amen.
