A new Teshura published recently contains documents and photos relating to the Rebbe and Rebbetzin‘s years in Paris, shedding new light on this period with never seen before documents.
During their time there, the Rebbe and Rebbetzin applied for French citizenship, although it was never approved in the end. The booklet contains the application file, as well as many other interesting details about the life of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin in those days.
There are also other documents from the war period as well as documents about obtaining a visa to the United States, some of which are being published here for the first time.
In addition there’s an overview of the life of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin in France, including many new details taken from these documents.
The Teshura was published by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Melul of France in honor of the upshernish in his son Sholom Dovber.
Why does it have the rebbes birthday as 1895?
That was how it was on all the Rebbe’s official papers, apparently to get him out of being drafted into the Russian army. (There we’re similar things with the earlier Rebbeim – for example, te Frierdiker Rebbe was born in 1880, but his official papers said 1871.)
