Reb Gershon Friedman, a beloved father and member of the Chabad community in Pico-Roberston, and more recently of North Hollywood, passed away on Wednesday 22 Teves, 5784.
R’ Gershon Friedman, a beloved father and member of the Chabad community in Pico-Roberston, and more recently of North Hollywood, passed away on Wednesday 22 Teves, 5784.
He was 56 years old.
Gershon was born and raised in Los Angeles as the youngest child of a Holocaust survivor. Growing up, he became involved in Chabad during his teenage and college years. His passion led him to Crown Heights, where he attended Hadar Hatorah and got married.
After a couple of years, he moved with his family back to Los Angeles, joining the Pico/Robertson Anash community, where he went on to raise a loving family. Throughout his time there, he was known for his kindness, humility, and devotion to family.
In recent years, Gershon and his family moved to North Hollywood.
He is survived by his wife Chaviva and their children Ziesi, Leibish, Mendy, Simcha, Schneur, Sterni, and Yitzchok.
He is also survived by his mother Beverly (Breina) and siblings Rachel and Joseph.
The Levaya will take place Thursday, 23 Teves/January 4 in Los Angeles.
12pm at YOEC – 7215 Waring Ave.
Kevura 1 pm at Mount Olive Memorial Park – 7231 E Slauson Ave.
Shiva will be held at 6442 Wilkinson Ave., North Holywood, CA, 91606.
Davening times:
Shacharis: 8:00 am and 8:30 am
Mincha 4:45 pm, followed by maariv.
Visiting times:
9 am – 12 pm
4 pm – 7 pm
9 pm – 11 pm
No visitors from 7 pm – 9 pm, please.
Motzei Shabbos until 11:00 pm.
