Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that New York Hospitals and group homes will be allowed to accept visitors.
Family members will be allowed to visit hospitals at the discretion of the hospital, provided that they wear protective equipment, keep to social distancing and other state guidelines.
The change of policy comes as the state’s infection rate continues to decline. The number of people testing positive statewide for the virus on Monday was below 2 percent.
Previously visits were limited to “imminent end-of-life situations” defined as “a patient who is actively dying, where death is anticipated within less than 24 hours.”
