Moving Song Expresses 33 Years of History, Hope, and Emotion

Approaching the Rebbe’s 123rd birthday, a group of bochurim came together to express over 33 years of history, hope, and emotions in a revived nigun that the Rebbe heard and encouraged.

Many surely remember the excitement in the months leading up to Yud Alef Nissan 5752, when we celebrated 90 years – Shnas Hatzadik. The Sichos about Moshiach’s imminent arrival, the Rebbe’s common trips to the Ohel, and the long hours he spent with us Chassidim. Then came Chof Zayin Adar, a day which has shaken the world till this very day.

That Yud Alef Nissan was celebrated with mixed emotions, as over a month had passed without seeing the Rebbe.

This Nigun to the words of Orech Yomim, by Reb Faitel Levin, is one of the Nigunim composed for that Yud Alef Nissan.

Reb Faitel sent a cassette of his Nigun to the Rebbe. It was later related by those present, that the Rebbe listened to the Nigun for a remarkably long time, showing strong signs of satisfaction and encouragement.

Times have changed, and many have yet to see the Rebbe. But the certainty in the Rebbe’s words, and the hope to see him soon, stay clear and strong. We now hope and pray, that before this Yud Alef Nissan, we should see the Rebbe again, and celebrate with him as he leads us to the Geula.

Lyrics:

Waiting late for Mincha
Maariv then a Sicha
Dollars for Tzedakah nearly every day
Shabbos afternoon
Excitement fills the room
Standing in my place the Rebbe I await

Each and every week
He’s giving us a peek
Opening our eyes to a new reality
Moshiach’s on his way
He’ll be here any day
ואראהו בישועתי

Now, I hear my beeper ring
“Mincha now” it’s signaling
The streets are filled as young and old run with urgency

Hoping that today
The curtains open wide will stay
ואראהו בישועתי

Seeing the Rebbe’s face
Fills my heart with hope and strength
In these hard and trying times, on him I do rely

But now the curtains closed
The strongest darkness yet imposed
To his window I look up and in my heart I cry

Hashem, oh don’t you hear
Too much for me to bear
Oy Rebbe, Ad Mosai, how long will this be?

I know you’re still with me
But you I want to see
ואראהו בישועתי

I’m firmly standing strong
I know it won’t be long
The day will come and with joy we’ll sing this song
Forever finally
Together we will be
