This past Shabbos, Parshas Bamidbar, the bochurim and shluchim of Tomchei Temimim Montreal traveled to Yeshivas Lubavitch Toronto for 36 hours of unity and inspiration.
This was held on the Shabbos before Shavuos, when the Rebbe instructed that Yidden join together “k’ish echod b’lev echod.” Being in a Shnas Hakhel, it was all the more fitting.
Once the buses from Montreal arrived, the Bochurim settled into their accommodations and enjoyed some pre-Shabbos To’ameha. Mincha was followed by a Grand Seder Limud in the spirit of Hakel, where bochurim from each Yeshiva learned a sicha b’chavrusah.
Seder nigunim then took place, and a ma’amer was recited by Hatomim Mendel Movsikov. After a spirited maariv, the night culminated with a beautiful seudas Shabbos, enhanced by Divrei Torah and words of inspiration from the bochurim and shluchim of each Yeshiva.
Notably, one of the Shluchim mentioned that Rabbi Akiva Wagner a”h was the first to initiate the idea of a Shabbos Achdus between two yeshivos, which was ultimately implemented in many Yeshivos Gedolos and Mesivtas across the world.
On Shabbos afternoon, a grand farbrengen was led by Rabbi Yossel Zaltzman, founder and senior rabbi of JRCC Ontario. The farbrengen continued for over 5 hours, until it was time for mincha. Between mincha and maariv, seder nigunim was once again held, and a ma’amer was recited by Hatomim Meir Avtzon.
The program concluded on Motzei Shabbos with a delicious melaveh malkah, during which the bochurim watched a video of the Rebbe and a Baal Shemskeh ma’aseh was shared.
Overall, the bochurim enjoyed an uplifting Shabbos filled with Chasidishkite and growth. Many took the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. They walked away recharged, ready to experience the Yom Tov of Shavuos in a proper manner – as the Rebbe spoke about numerous times, how the way in which to be mekabel the Torah is through complete achdus.
A special thank you goes to the shluchim and bochurim who arranged this Shabbos, as well as to Rabbi Leibel Ceitlin and Rabbi Chaim Langsam.
The Shabbos was dedicated L’iluy Nishmas Harav Michoel Akiva Gershon ben Harav Refoel Menachem Nochum A”H Wagner
