Democrat Eric Adams has been elected New York City mayor on Tuesday, winning easily against Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee and the founder of the Guardian Angels.

Democrat Eric Adams has been elected New York City mayor on Tuesday, winning easily against Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee and the founder of the Guardian Angels.
Adams was endorsed by the United Crown Heights PAC as well as a number of other Jewish communities across New York. The outgoing borough president and former state senator has a decades-long friendship with the Crown Heights Jewish community, and paid a surprise visit to 770 on the evening before elections. Local activists supported him, organizing a strong campaign encouraging residents to vote.
Born and raised in a poor, single-parent home in Brooklyn, Adams served as an officer in the New York City Transit Police and then the New York City Police Department for over two decades, retiring at the rank of captain. From 2006 to 2013, he served in the New York State Senate, representing the 20th Senate district in Brooklyn. Adams was elected Brooklyn Borough President In November 2013 and was reelected in November 2017.
Adams will take office as Mayor of New York City on January 1st.
