Chabad Lubavitch of Cyprus, under the direction of the country’s Chief Rabbi and shliach Rabbi Aryeh Ze’ev Raskin, welcomed a new Torah at its Jewish Community Centre in Larnaca. The hachnasas sefer Torah was attended by community members and guests from Israel who flew in especially for the occasion.
Whilst the other Torahs at the shul are classic Sifrei Torah used by Ashkenazim, this is the first Torah to take its place in the aron kodesh resting upright, in a beautifully adorned metal case.
