Three hundred Chabad bochurim gathered at Chabad of Great Neck, NY on Tuesday afternoon to take the final test of this year’s Halikut program.
Now in its fifth year, Halikut has seen tremendous success in transforming the way bochurim learn Likkutei Sichos. The revolutionary program requires each bochur to take three tests in order to qualify to attend the Halikut Siyum, where a final test is taken. This system requires the bochurim to review the sichos many times so that they remember all the details of the entire sefer.
Following the test, the bochurim who scored the highest mark on the test will then compete on stage, moderated by Rabbi Moshe Gourary, Shliach to Toms River, New Jersey, and tested by Rabbi Leima Wilhelm of Morristown Yeshiva, and Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook and Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmenson, both of Lahak. The bochur winning the competition will receive all the seforim of the Rebbe’s Torah printed by Kehos.
The siyum and seudah will then take place in the presence of distinguished rabonim and mashpi’im, and will be addressed by Rabbi Eli Nosson Silberberg of Chicago Mesivta and Hatomim Lazer Schapiro who will be making the Siyum on Chelek Chof Hei, connecting the final Sicha with Yud Shevat and Basi Legani.
Halikut is a project of Vaad Hatmimim led with dedication by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Altein, together with Halikut’s organizers Tzvi Alperowitz, Boruch Ceitlin, Peretz Garelik and Mendel Goldman.
