The anniversary of the founding of Tomchei Tmimim was marked in the town of Lubavitch, the original seat of the yeshiva, and the site of its founding 123 years ago.

Tens of bochurim and anash from across Russia came to Lubavitch on Friday, 15 Elul and remained for Shabbos as well, spending their time davening, learning, farbrenging and visiting the Ohels and holy sites. The group was led by Rabbi Yitzchok Kogan, ‘the Tzadik of Leningrad’.

The guests also got to see first-hand the many projects undertaken by Shliach to Lubavitch Rabbi Gavriel Gordon, who has invested much effort to restore and preserve the many holy sites in the town.

Among the recent projects were the rebuilding of the shul attached to the Ohel, the recently renovated Ohel of the Rebbetzins, the preservation and fencing in of the ‘Cemetery of Hidden Tzaddikim‘, as well as new guest houses.

All of the restoration projects in Lubavitch are fully sponsored by philanthropists Yossi and Batshevah Popack, in conjunction with the ‘Gader Avot’ organazation, through the efforts of the askan Mendel Levin.
