The kever of Rebbetzin Menucha Rochel Slonim, the daughter of the Mitteler Rebbe, located in the old cemetery in Chevron, was vandalized Friday afternoon.
Vandals broke down the gate, smashed lamps, desecrated the area, and covered a mural of the Rebbe with white paint.
Rabbi Mordechai Hellinger of Chabad Chevron told Anash.org that Police have opened an investigation and a search for the perpetrators is underway.
The kever of Rebbetzin Menucha Rochel Slonim receives hundreds of visitors every year, especially on her yahrzeit on the 24th of Shevat.
Visitors to the kever have often pointed out that they felt comforted by the fact that in the farthest outpost and the highest Jewish area of Chevron there was always a painting of the Rebbe overlooking and guarding the Jewish residents of the city.
