This past Motzoi Shabbos thousands again gathered – in person and via broadcast – to mark the day of the miraculous salvation of R’ Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin on Zos Chanukah six years ago.
This day of remembrance, celebration, and thanksgiving to Hashem has become an annual opportunity to internalize and strengthen our faith and trust in Hashem, a day to gather for encouragement, inspiration, and practical guidance in living a life of Bitachon.
The event was a full sit-down Seudas Hoda’a Melava Malka hosted by Bnos Melech in Lakewood. Various individuals and companies, including Yoni’s Cuisine, Glatt Gourmet, party planner Shani Weinman, and others sponsored different aspects of the event to keep it free of charge and accessible to all.
The men gathered with Rabbi Rubashkin in the upstairs hall, while the women gathered to celebrate with Mrs. Rubashkin in the downstairs hall. Both halls were full of attendees eager to celebrate the moment and take strength into their daily lives. The attendance at the celebration, both in quantity and in the various communities represented, continued to demonstrate the Achdus which has marked the Rubashkin story since its very beginning.
This year’s gathering again had the zechus to hear Divrei Bracha from the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav HaGaon R’ Yeruchum Olshin shlita. Although the Rosh Yeshiva was giving a Shiur that night, he took the time to address those assembled, drawing from the Orchos Tzaddikim and underlining the link between Bitachon and Simcha. The Rosh Yeshiva encouraged us all to strengthen our own Bitachon and find true Simcha, learning from and drawing inspiration from the real-life example of Rabbi Rubashkin who found in Torah true strength, clarity, and Simcha even in a beis ha’assurim.
Rabbi Rubashkin then addressed the crowd, vividly recounting the story of his miraculous release in his inimitable style, interwoven with practical lessons and exhortations to Torah, Avoda, and Bitachon. He focused on the importance of learning from the seforim and ended his speech by announcing (in addition to his many weekly Shiurim) a new Shiur which will complete the Shaar HaBitachon in 40 days.
The new Shiur will begin Monday, Vov Teves. The audio will be posted on alephbeisgimmel.com/40-day, the video will be at alephbeisgimmel.com/40-day/video , and it will also be sent out on WhatsApp, and iyH made available on a call-in number to be announced.
Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz followed this up with a speech full of his signature passion and energy, drawing the lessons from the past and applying them to current events and to our personal lives.
The event was ably chaired by R’ Yitzchak Hisiger and R’ Shloime Taussig led the zemiros, accompanied by the rousing music of R’ Yossi Cohen. The event culminated in spirited dancing expressing the joy and gratitude of Klal Yisroel for Hashem’s miracles throughout history, in our generation, and in our daily lives.
This evening of Chizuk and celebration again left participants uplifted, inspired, and resolved to internalize the principles of Emunah and Bitachon by increasing their study of the seforim on the topic, and to apply them practically in their lives.
The Rubashkins are already working on the Shabbos of Emunah and Bitachon, their annual Shabbaton, which will take place on Purim Katan. Information about this event will be posted at alephbeisgimmel.com/shabbaton.
