Heeding the Rebbe’s call that every Jew especially children, should hear the Aseres Hadibros on Shavuos dedicated Released Time bochurim helped organize dozens of parties across New York.
“It is unbelievably inspiring to see my children’s Released Time Rabbis walk all the way to Queens just so that we should feel welcome and celebrate Shavuos,” said Arna, a proud mother of two Released Time students.
Although Shavuos this year was on Friday, more than 50 bochurim walked to different locations in Brooklyn and Queens to help organize ice cream parties and Asres Hadibros readings for their students, families and friends.
“The walk was long but it was well worth it,” one bochur said. The parties were organized in conjunction with many Shuls and Chabad houses in Brooklyn and Queens. The bochurim helped plan and organize the parties in a way that their public school students and families felt welcome to hear the Aseres Hadibros.
“We want to give a big thank you to Mr. Yossi and Batsheva Popack for sponsoring all the Released Time ice cream parties in memory of Mr. Popacks father R’ Shmuel Aizik Halevi Ben R’ Avraham Halevi Popack,” said Rabbi Sholom Ber Hecht, Chairman of the NCFJE. “With the special energy of Hakhel, Boruch Hashem this year’s Shavuos parties were met with great and beautiful success”.
Close to 2000 people joined together throughout all the different parties across New York, many of the participants being Released Time families and friends.
Big thanks goes to all the bochurim who walked and helped organize the many parties. Among them being: Naftoli Wilhelm, Kalman Krinski, Levi Krinsky, Levi Braun, Mendel Backman, Yisroel Blesofsky and Mendel Weinbaum.
