Rabbi Avraham Lasker, a devoted chossid from Montreal who served in the Chevra Kadisha, passed away on Thursday, 19 Teves.

He was 83 years old.

R’ Avrohom was born to his father, Rabbi Eliyahu Lasker, on 20 Kislev, 5703, in Casablanca, Morocco. He later moved with his family to Algiers, Algeria, and subsequently immigrated to France following the departure of North African Jewry.

In 5740 (1980), the family moved to Montreal, Canada. Through the shluchim there, R’ Avraham became close to Chassidus Chabad. Rabbi Zusha Silberstein brought him to the Rebbe in New York, and from that point on, he became a devoted Chossid and an integral part of the Montreal Anash community.

In 5751 (1991), he received a bracha from the Rebbe to make aliyah to Eretz Yisroel. He settled in Yerushalayim, where he lived for ten years before returning to Montreal.

He was a man of Torah and learning, who was diligent in his daily study of Chumash, Rambam, Me’am Loez, Ein Yaakov, and Halacha. He was also a dedicated volunteer at the Chevra Kadisha in Montreal.

The Levaya will pass by 770 this Motzaei Shabbos at 7:15 PM, proceeding to the airport for Kevura in Eretz Yisroel at the Eretz Hachaim cemetery in Beit Shemesh.

He is survived by his children: Sarah Chaviv, Eliyahu, Menachem, Ephrayim Moshe, and Binyomin.
