R’ Herschel Scheiner, a long-time member of the Crown Heights community, passed away on Sunday, 4 Nissan 5780 after contracting COVID-19. He was known as a pillar of chessed.

R’ Herschel Scheiner, a long-time member of the Crown Heights community, passed away on Sunday, 4 Nissan 5780. He was 80 years old.
In addition to his work with Tzivos Hashem of raising money for orphanages in the former Soviet Union, R’ Herschel was heavily involved in his wife Mrs. Devorah Scheiner‘s Yomtov fund, which provided food to Crown Heights families in need before yomim tovim.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Devorah Scheiner, their children Mrs. Faigy Brafman – Crown Heights; Mrs. Tzippy Furst – Five Towns, NY, R’ Shuey Scheiner – Crown Heights, and Mrs. Chanie Lazaroff – Los Angeles, CA, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
