On Thursday, 28 Av / August 29 President Laurentino Cortizo of Panama came with his entourage to honor the Beth El Synagogue on it´s 80th anniversary.
In addition to honoring the community, President Cortizo recognized shluchim Rabbi Aron and Rebetzin Fradel Laine, who have served as the congregation’s spiritual leaders for the past 25 years.
The participants were proud to hear the president proclaim his staunch support for his Jewish constituents, who have greatly enhanced the economy of Panama.
Both the president and first lady were greeted with utmost respect, and the evening left everyone feeling uplifted. The Jewish community was proud to celebrate this special moment.
