Oregon Makes 44th Siyum an ‘Elevated Experience’

“An Elevated Experience” was the theme and atmosphere as shluchim and community members from across Oregon and Southwest Washington gathered to celebrate the 44th Siyum HaRambam.

The event, meticulously organized by Rabbi Shimey Wilhelm of Chabad of Lake Oswego, emphasized the prestige and profound impact of the Rebbe’s takanah to study Rambam daily. The Mishneh Torah, authored by the Rambam, is designed to grant every Jew—man, woman, and child—access to the entirety of Torah’s halachos and a deeper understanding of mitzvos.

Rabbi Chayim Mishulovin of Portland’s City Center Jewish Oasis Chabad completed the Rambam on behalf of those who follow the three-chapter-per-day study cycle. He shared heartfelt words about the dedication required for this daily commitment and expressed gratitude to supportive spouses who enable such a rigorous Torah regimen.

“The shluchim of Oregon have a unique connection to the daily Rambam study,” noted Rabbi Moshe Wilhelm, director of Chabad of Oregon. “The Rebbe introduced this study cycle on Acharon Shel Pesach 5744—just ten weeks after the first shluchim arrived in Oregon.” Rabbi Wilhelm then led the community in beginning the 45th cycle of Rambam study.

For many attendees, the event was transformative. “I had heard much about the Rambam study cycle and considered joining,” shared participant Hillel Petersen. “Yet, until this event, I never realized the reverence and significance this study holds.”

The siyum was not just a celebration of Torah learning but an inspiration to strengthen and expand participation in the Rebbe’s vision of uniting Klal Yisroel through the study of Rambam.
